How I’m finding the confidence to ditch make-up

When I was 13 I started wearing make up to make myself look ‘pretty’ and feel better about myself. I hated my freckles, rosy cheeks and I desperately wanted olive skin.

I’m now a 27 year old woman who can acknowledge that from such a young age I’ve formed a belief that I have to cover my face everyday before I present myself to the world.

I’m also a woman who realises that this is pretty warped and definitely not in line with how I want to live my life.

Although I don’t like to think of myself as vain, there is no denying that looking your best can also help you to feel your best.

So along with looking after my insides, I’m thinking more about how I treat my skin.

foundation free

After two weeks I’m going foundation free and finding much healthier skin underneath!

When I go food shopping I can literally stand and analyse a can of tomatoes, reading over the ingredients panel to ensure I’m getting the one with the most nutritional value.

Although when I purchase skin products, anything goes (usually it’s whatever is on sale at Priceline). I throw foundation and powder onto my skin everyday in a bid to look more refreshed at the office, but I have no idea what is actually being absorbed into my skin.

But what if I could attend to my skin, the same way I look after my general health and wellbeing?

What if I could feel confident enough in the condition of my skin to ditch the gunky makeup?

When my Aunty told me about a product she has come across that has given both men and women amazing results for their skin issues I was intrigued.

Could I actually get my skin to a point where I am confident to bare all without foundation?… The answer is yes.

Without sounding like an infomercial, I have been using the Skincerity Nightly Breathable Barrier mask every night for two weeks and already I am rocking up to work foundation free – Say what?!

I have found that my rosy cheeks aren’t as prominent, the tiredness around my eyes has reduced and overall my skin looks clearer. Oh, and my skin feels so soft!

So how does it work?

Feeling good with just mascara and a little lippy

Basically like a band-aid that protects, restores and speeds the skins healing process. The ingredients of the masque are:

  • Skin coating polymers that create a flexible breathable barrier that works overnight
  • Pharmaceutical grade acetone – This sounds scary, but remember that acetone is a molecule made by our bodies as part of normal human metabolism. It is also used in skin products, and in Skincerity it is used to prepare and clean the skin, keep bacteria from growing in the bottle and also create micro-porus holes which allow oxygen to reach the skin which is vital for healthy skin. Acetone is used as the activating agent that turns the liquid into a ‘film’ when it touches the skin. The acetone evaporates too quickly to be absorbed through the skin.

The ingredients that are actually delivered to your skin for absorption are:
Vitamin E – a powerful antioxidant that enhances the products you already use
Grape seed oil – repairs damaged and stressed tissues, and allows better control of skin moisturisation. The properties of grape seed oil are very helpful in diminishing the sun’s damaging effects and assisting in wound healing.

Sounds pretty simple, and it actually is. For the most part Skincerity uses your skins own natural moisture as the key ingredient and it works overnight. You can roll it on after your nightly skin routine and then just head to bed.

Usually you don’t leave masks on for this long, however Skincerity is non-comedogenic which means it doesn’t clog your pores. Rather, it forms a flexible masque that builds up a breathable film that mimics the essential functions of your skin to help restore it to look more healthy, hydrated and fresh.

Then after your beauty sleep you just give your face a rinse with warm water to get rid of the residue.

I’m a firm believer that you are what you eat, and with good nutrition your skin will see massive changes. But with a little help from Skincerity my rosy checks have calmed down and I feel like I have much brighter skin in general.

Getting results from Skincerity has been a bit of a family affair. My cousin shared the results from one of their friends Phyllis, who has been using Skincerity on her hands. The picture below truly speaks for itself, and kind of puts my make up free results to shame!

If you want to find out more about Skincerity and how it could work for you go to or give my lovely Aunty a call on 0414 890 926 as she knows a lot more about this product than me, (I am just the one reaping the benefits). Plus if you’re interested in trying it for yourself she can hook you up.
