Every time I visit the family home of my soon to be in-laws I walk past a sheet of paper stuck on the fridge titled ‘The Ingredients to a Good Life’ written by a school principal of Warragul Secondary College.
His thoughts on what makes a good life resonate with me so much that I’ve adapted his list to build the foundations for a happy and healthy year ahead.
I think if I mix these ingredients into my every day life, potentially 2016 could be the year that tops all others as the best year EVER! Try this recipe for yourself…
The point of all the abundance of the earth is to see what you can do with it, to try your hand and see what you can achieve with what you are given. Take each and every opportunity to learn and grow. But remember, opportunities rarely fall on our laps. Make every effort to put yourself out there and do the hard yards, otherwise you’ll be left wondering what could have been.
Keep good friends
Friendship is probably the greatest support system in the world. Big call I know! Nothing can match it. Friends are those wonderful people who know all about you and still like you. You’ve got to have both kinds of friends; casual friends who invite you out for drinks and real friends who stand by you in all the troubles and joys of life.
These ladies are always by my side no mater what….
& I’m loving having oodles of opportunities to spend time with new and old friends;-) Here we’re all smiles on a recent camping trip.
Live an active life
Don’t miss the game. Don’t miss the performance, don’t miss the dance, don’t miss the class. Go to everything you possibly can. Buy a ticket to everything you possibly can. Enrich your life with experience rather than materialist items. We come into this world with nothing and that is how we will leave so why waste your dollars on things you can’t take with you? Enrich your soul instead.
Cherish your family and inner circle
Invest in them and they will invest in you. Inspire them and they will inspire you. With your inner circle, which could be both friends and family, you need to keep in touch. We all live a busy life, but making time for those you love is sure to reward you more than what’s in the bank or slogging your heart out over work – there is truly no greater value then love.
Kinda obvious these ladies are my Mum and Sister!
I’d go to the desert and back for this lad – lucky since soon he’ll be my hubby.
Nurture your body – it’s the only one you’ve got
Look after yourself. No one else can do this for you. If you’re looking for love outside of yourself you will never find it. Be kind to yourself and quit blaming others for your frustrations. Take ownership of your mind, body and soul- it’s no one else’s but yours. Eat good food and laugh often.
Live a vital life
If you live well it will show on your face; it will be heard in your voice; it will show in the job you do and the relationships you form. There is a unique and magical quality about people who live well.
May this year be the start of truly living the kind of life that will bring the real rewards that you desire. This year is the year to take action and live with purpose.
